Persuasive Writing: How to Let People Know What You Want and Do What You Ask

SOLD OUT

Are you frustrated when colleagues or clients don’t read or respond appropriately to your e-mails, reports, requests, or proposals? Do you wonder whether people are actually reading the documents you’ve carefully crafted for them? Managers, do you have inexperienced or word-phobic employees?  This course can help!

In this interactive, hands-on workshop, you will learn:

  • Strategies for persuading readers
  • How to organize information so readers understand immediately what you want them to do or know
  • How to incorporate supporting information that convinces readers
  • How to anticipate and respond to objections or questions
  • How to write easy-to-follow instructions

The workshop will be led by Leslie O'Flahavan,  a get-to-the point writer and an experienced, versatile writing instructor. As E-WRITE owner since 1996, Leslie has been writing content and teaching customized writing courses for Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Leslie's recent experience includes working with engineers at the American Institute of Steel Construction and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. As a Steering Committee member for DC Web Women, and other women's business organization, she continues to support women in STEM.

Leslie is the co-author of Clear, Correct, Concise E-Mail: A Writing Workbook for Customer Service Agents,  and holds a B.A. in English and Rhetoric from the University of Illinois and an M.S.Ed from Northern Illinois University.

Join us at Petterino's on Randolph & Dearborn for breakfast and networking at 8:00am, followed by the workshop from 9:30-12:30. The $30 registration fee includes breakfast.
