Fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) are a proven technology for upgrading and strengthening concrete structures. These advanced composite materials have exceptionally high strength, yet are very lightweight and easy to install. They are used for increasing the capacity of existing buildings, seismically upgrading structures, correcting construction errors and allowing changes in use. This presentation provides an overview of the ACI 440.2R code, discusses the limitations for FRP strengthening, and provides information about various FRP products and installation methods. Whether you’re new to FRPs or need to brush-up on some of this knowledge, this will be a great opportunity to interact with the presenters as they dive into various technical and installation topics.

About the Speakers
Eri Vokshi is a Senior Product Engineer for CFRP and Corrosion Products at Sika-US. Eri holds a Master’s degree in Material Science from Arizona State University and is a professional engineer in the state of Florida. She is also an active member of ICRI, ACI, SEA and a voting member of ACI 440F.
Diego Romero is the Director of Forensics, Restoration, and Building Envelope Services for Walker Consultant’s downtown Chicago office. Diego is a licensed structural and professional engineer and holds a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering and a Ph.D. with emphasis on concrete durability; both from the University of Miami. Diego specializes in the evaluation and repair of existing structures and is an active member of ACI and ICRI. In 2020, Diego was named ICRI’s Top 40 under 40 for his accomplishments in the concrete repair industry.
