Job Description:

This position is responsible for the preparation of design documents for structural systems, including calculations, drawings, and technical specifications. This position will serve as a member of an integrated design team, and be responsible for coordinating structural design along other disciplines, to meet project schedules and budgets. This position reports to Director, Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities:
Conceptualize initial civil/structural design approach for major phases of large facility type projects; exercise judgment in the independent evaluation, selection substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, practices and criteria.
Prepare design documents for structural systems, including calculations, drawings and structural specifications
Review preliminary and final plans and specifications for constructability and risk management
Supervise the work of other Structural EITs and Technicians assigned to applicable projects; serve as a mentor for less experienced/developing Structural Engineers and Technicians
Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the local office and/or other corporate location; serve as a liaison between clients and design team
Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing work for Structural project teams
Ability to successfully complete projects on time and on budget
Supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project, including coordination with City, State and County officials
Assist with other duties assigned by Project Managers and Director of Structural Engineering

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master
Experience with Industrial and/or Warehouse/Distribution Center projects is required.
6 years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, SAP2000 or other CSI software and RAM Structural or other Bentley software
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with department personnel and office staff; must possess strong oral and written communication skills
Advanced knowledge and understanding of building concepts and design codes
Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook
Experienced in the use of AutoCAD, Revit and other design software
Experienced with analyses and design of steel, concrete and masonry structures and related elements
Ability to work in a team to achieve project goals and as an individual to achieve personal goals; ability to work with minimal supervision
