Job Description:

The project structural engineer will report to the structural engineer manager and McHugh Executives and will work on structural engineering and construction engineering tasks which support McHugh’s field operations, estimating group, QA/QC, safety department and 3rd party clients. Structural engineering design tasks will include the design of CFMF, concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures related to new and renovation work. Construction engineering tasks will include the structural analysis and design of tower crane installations, earth retention systems, lifting apparatus, formwork, and shoring. The project structural engineer must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The role will also perform variety of complicated tasks. This position may lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

As Project Structural Engineer, you will:
-Structural Engineering: Design of CFMF, concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures related to new and renovation work.
-Construction Engineering: Design foundation and tie-in for tower crane installations, design temporary earth retention systems, analyze and review rigging and lifting apparatus, and review/design formwork and shoring schemes
-Estimating Group Support: Perform review of construction documents and propose value engineering schemes and alternates. Discuss and explain building code related issues to assist estimating group efforts.
-Field Operation: Assist Project Manager with submittals and RFI’s, assist GC projects with concrete related technical support such as ACI interpretation, conduct concrete QC visits to the jobsites, and assist in improving and developing field best practices
-GC / Concrete Marketing: Contact suppliers, GC’s, Engineers, Architects and Publications to find bid opportunities, create and maintain contacts and relationships with clients, engineers and vendors, and attend appropriate networking functions
-Assist the estimating teams in development of viable alternate engineering schemes for building and transportation structures suitable for estimating purposes
-Assists QA/QC department by performing field inspections, reviewing project drawings and specifications and providing recommendations & reports
-Assist the safety department by designing/reviewing engineered fall protection systems and other safety related items

Job Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering plus 3-6 years of structural engineering design experience. Master’s degree, SE/PE licensure is a plus.
To be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Excellent computer skills in the following: ACAD, ADAPT, ENERCALC, PCA Slab, PCA Column, RISA 3d, RAM, REVIT, TEKLA, and additional software experience is a strong plus, but will consider candidate with strong technology experience in other platforms as well.
Familiarity with ACI, AISC, ANSI, ASCE, ASME, AWS, IBC Design Codes.
