Do you LOVE designing steel? Would you love to help make structural steel easier to design and specify for the design community, construction industry, and others? The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has two exciting job opportunities available in the Steel Solutions Center (SSC) of our Chicago office for engineering professionals like you!

SSC Staff Engineer
You’ll have the unique opportunity to be the live voice and first point of contact for the interesting steel inquiries we receive every day via phone and email. You’ll be trained by the ‘best of the best’ in the steel industry to respond to technical inquiries and speak knowledgeably about all our technical publications, research documents, and website features. Using SSC inquiry statistics, you’ll compile reports identifying topics of current concern, providing a continual flow of technical information, advancing the knowledge of the industry, and expanding the resources of the Steel Solution Center.

Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or Architectural Studies (Structures Option).
 Minimum of 3 years experience as a practicing structural engineer.
 Ability to understand and grow in the use of technical terminology related to structural engineering.
 Exceptional interpersonal and customer-focused communication skills.
 Ability to manage time and organize activities to effectively complete work independently and participate on team projects.
 Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to develop proficiency with CRM and in-house database applications.

SSC Advisor
You’ll work among our staff of experienced engineers and marketing professionals, and connect with a fascinating group of industry leaders to develop the detailed knowledge, resources, and expertise you’ll need to provide the best answers and technical assistance to the design and structural steel community we serve.

Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s degree, PE and/or SE preferred.
 Minimum of 5 years experience as a consulting structural engineer or construction project engineer. EIT required.
 Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to conceptual problems.
 Ability to translate and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely to inform and influence others.
 Technical proficiency with structural design and drafting software (RAM and Auto CAD preferred) and ability to develop competency using related programs as required (e.g., ETABS, STAAD, BSAG, SIMON, Microsoft Dynamics,CRM).
