SEAOI is the only professional organization devoted exclusively to the advancement of the structural engineering profession and the pursuit of excellence in engineering work. Dues for Members and Associate Members joining SEAOI after October 1 are prorated. (Student and Affiliate memberships and membership renewals are not prorated.) All memberships will expire on June 30.
Our membership year is July 1 - June 30, and annual fees for each membership type are detailed below.
Recent Graduate? SEAOI is committed to encouraging and assisting recent graduates in furthering their professional development and network, and we are pleased to subsidize dues for the first two years of associate-level membership. Recent graduates may receive a rate of $75 (normally $137.50) for each year. Learn more here!

- Non-Local Member (MEO) - $137.50/year Current prorated amount $103.50
- Both residential and work addresses are out of state or have zip codes of 61000+
(Individuals practicing in the field of Structural Engineering but not licensed in Illinois)
- Associate (ASC) - $275/year Current prorated amount $207.00
Received baccalaureate degree 8 or more years ago
- Associate (ASI) - $137.50/year Current prorated amount $103.50
Received baccalaureate degree within the last 7 years
(Individuals who work outside the Structural Engineering profession)
- Affiliate (AFI) - $285/year
(Individuals who are enrolled full-time in a college or university degree program)
- Student (STU) -$10/year
A student ID will be requested after the membership application is received.

- Life Membership (LIFE)
Requirements include 10 consecutive years of membership, retired from active practice, and a written request to the SEAOI Board, which should include a CV, resume, or bio that highlights the candidate's career accomplishments.
